I have officially witnessed a true sign of integrity. My son, Demetrius, is a trumpet player and loves it. He recently was asked to attend a special honors band in Kentucky. He asked how he received this great honor. The band director told him that someone dropped out, so he automatically was able to go. Now, all the other honor band students were required to do a series of scales, etc. to be picked for the honor band. Now, here's the kicker. Demetrius told his band director that he will learn the series of scales, etc. because it "wasn't fair for him to just be able to go because someone dropped out." When he told me this, I was really taken back. You know, you try to teach your kids right morals, etc., but you always wonder if it sinks in. So, that night I helped him learned all the notes to be able to pass. He passed with flying colors.
