Through the eyes of an eight year old

The other day Joseph was acting strange....I couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. I finally asked him...What's wrong.? He looked at me in a very distraught look and said, "Mom. those boys were telling scary stories. I got them in my head, and now I can't get them out." I then told him that they were only make believe. He still had a hard time believing they weren't real in his head.
This got me to thinking. This is just like the enemy...He puts thoughts in our heads, and they are so vivid in our minds, that we start to process this as being real. But in reality, it's not. It started as only a thought. As the Bible says, take every thought captive, and test whether it is good or not. And the bad ones, we are not to dwell on, and think about.
What an awesome way God showed me this....through the eyes of an eight year old

The beginning.........

Well, it's official. My oldest, Joshua, got his driver's permit yesterday...It is very sobering...To think this boy, only a few years ago, was watching cartoons, eating dirt, and walking out of the house to school with no shoes on.....AH, the wonder years of growing up.

Speechless

Okay, so I was overwhelmed yesterday when this was sent to me. Although you know your kids, and you always want to believe the best, this is one of those things that just makes your jaw drop.
This came from Joseph's Children's Director at our church....She is such a wonderful person who truly loves kids and sees the gifts in them. This was something she sent to me about Joseph. I am still speechless. And that is saying a lot....for me.

I've been meaning to tell you something about Joseph. I'm sure you already realize his gift of mercy, but I just wanted to tell you what a blessing it is to watch him during prayer time in KidZone. He is always the first to the altar to lay hands on the other children and pray for them. He also makes a special effort to pray for me every Sunday. He's VERY special. I know you already feel that way, I just want you to know that I agree.

Geniune

I been thinking lately about certain things...Mainly how people react in certain situations. My brother said something yesterday that really made me think. He said, "You truly find out who your true friends are when their kid is not the star of the show." You know, that is so true.
Sometimes I wonder if people just get close to you to see what they can get for themselves. This is so sad, but so true.
But, on the flip side, there are some real true friends in my life that I know are not out to get something for themselves. I know if I called them they would be there to listen and to help.
I hope in return I am the same way. I want to be geniune on the inside as well as the outside.

Hadn't had a family photo in a while....so glad we did. Man, the boys growing up fast!! What a great family I have!!!

A defining moment

My mom and dad are great with our kids. They are really involved in their lives. I've heard it said that grandparents are an intricate part of a family...I truly belive that.
So, my dad dedicded to get the boys a go-kart. It was used, but it's like brand new to us. It's great.
The other day, I came home from work to find the go kart out front....I went in and said, "So who is going to ride with me on the new go-kart?" Joseph, the 8 year old spoke up, and said, "No, Mom I'll drive you around." I stopped and looked at him and said, "What?" So, we headed to the go-kart. Reluctantly, I got in. He told me that I needed my seat belt, and to hold on. And then we took off. I was really amazed at how he drove. He said that his older brother Joshua had taught him how to drive.
I drove around with him for quite a while.
It then came to me....My eight year old is my youngest, but not my baby anymore. He is definitely growing up. A moment that I will always remember!

Karate Tournament

Joshua and Demetrius won at the first karate tournament they went to. Joshua got 1st in Kata and 2nd in sparring. Joseph only competeing in sparring. He was so excited!! When he won the first round, he turned around and said, "I can't believe I did that! I won!" It was priceless! He was a metal. I'm so proud...I'm such a mom!!
